Road Trip!

It is amazing how much cheaper is was to drive down to New Orleans than to fly. Plus, Chris and I got to go on a cross-country road trip together. The last time we did that was 13 years ago when we drove out West. Here are some highlights from the road:

These are two memorials at Kentucky rest areas. The one on the left is for people who die on Kentucky roads each year. The one on the right is for the victims of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombings. Not sure the connection to Kentucky, but there is one of these memorials at each of the KY Welcome Centers (according to a woman who works at the one we stopped at).

If you see a flock of birds that need a home, send them to this podunk town in Mississippi.

We Waited Too Long

My husband and I celebrated our 10-year anniversary last week. A year ago we started talking about what we could do to celebrate these ten amazing and eventful years. In the Spring we finally got serious about actually going away for a week together without the children. Chris liked the idea of an all-inclusive vacation, so I zeroed in on resorts and cruises. I was surprised to find that Carnival cruises are cheaper than most of the resorts that I looked at. I am sure there are resorts that are more economical, but I was looking at Caribbean resorts.

After ensuring that my husband could take the time off work, we booked the cruise in June! I couldn't believe we actually did it! We never even went on a honeymoon, so this was a big step forward! It gave us something to work for all summer. Now that we have gone and come back, I am so glad we did.

As we were bitten by the "travel bug," and this blog is dedicated to the travels we have taken and we will take as a family.
